Abundo presents an inspirational lecture with the researcher and lecturer Kalle Ström.
THE PROBLEM OF SOFT VALUES – a humorous lecture on misconceptions between hard and soft.
We live in a time where the soft values rule. Being able to decide for yourself, have maximum freedom of choice and to act according to one’s inner motivation is considered the right way for both the sucess of organizations and the individual’s well-being. For example, managers are expected to practice leadership that is about “attracting” a voluntary and motivated willingness to work, rather than giving strict orders.
This starting point, which since the 1980s has developed into one of the strongest dogmas of this time, comes with hidden and sometimes dark consequences. The freedom of choice – from choosing a marmalade at ICA, today’s work outfit, to choosing a health center, or making the right career choice – is, for example, so widespread in society that for many it has paralyzing consequences. Despite the good cause, freedom of choice can make us confused, stressed and depressed. You can ask yourself what the soft values behind all these idealized images actually do with us? When can soft intentions have unwanted consequences? And how do we find a well-functioning balance between hard and soft in work life?
Kalle is an appreciated lecturer and conference host with over 200 stage performances in his portfolio. He mixes humor and anecdotes with his scientific sources.
In addition to research, Kalle Ström has a several years of experience in business development, TV, quiz sports and has been an elite player in handball with SM gold from 2007 in his luggage.
