Nicklas Hermansson is a futurist, AI expert, and one of Sweden’s most sought-after speakers. He is also the voice behind the newsletter NomoFomo Insights. Here, a carefully curated selection of trends, innovations, and phenomena is presented for those who want to stay one step ahead. Whether you run a company, build a brand, or simply want to understand where the world is heading.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the times we live in. AI, geopolitics, generational shifts, and digitalization are moving at a pace that leaves many barely enough time to reflect before the next gear is engaged. For Nicklas Hermansson, it is the opposite. This is where he feels most at home.
After more than 20 years as a journalist and creative director in the Swedish daily press, with a constant focus on the question “what will people want tomorrow?”, he has made it his work to understand, filter, and explain the future. In 2024, he was named Speaker of the Year in AI & Tech.

Thousands of news stories every week
– My life is about reading, thinking, writing, and talking about what I find interesting, he says.
Every week, he consumes thousands of news stories — 2,500 to be exact — from the world’s leading publishers. He always writes after his daily workout and sauna. Once the thoughts have been refined, they are put on paper, into the podcast, into the newsletter, or turned into a script for a lecture.
Nicklas describes his newsletter as a tool rather than a product. And he has a clear goal.
– I want to make my readers the most interesting people in a room. It doesn’t matter whether it’s at a sales meeting, in the boardroom, at the bar, or in the sauna.
Each issue contains a carefully curated selection of trends, innovations, and phenomena, from the workplaces of the future to cultural shifts in entirely different parts of the world. But it is not about knowing the most — it is about seeing connections and daring to think differently.
The new generation
Despite the AI boom and the constant focus on technology, it is not the technology itself that fascinates Nicklas Hermansson the most right now. It is the people growing up with it. Generation Z and Alpha are being shaped in a time marked by crises, algorithms, and endless flows of information. Questions that once seemed obvious are now open: Will young people even get jobs in a world of AI agents? Will they develop their own taste, or have it served to them by algorithms?
– Young people receive a lot of criticism, but that has always been the case. Often, it is we older people who need to update our perspectives.
Enhancement, not replacement
When Nicklas meets companies, he sees a clear pattern. Many have entered the AI revolution with a focus on efficiency. That is a mistake, he believes.
– The winners are not those who replace people, but those who enhance them.
He describes a future where creativity, empathy, and communication become decisive competitive advantages. Where technology does not remove the human element but makes it even more important. At the same time, many organizations face an identity crisis and ask themselves: What do we really stand for? What is our taste, our style, our voice?
– In a generic world, authenticity will become extremely valuable.

Finding balance
In the midst of all technological development, he also sees a clear counter-movement. The analog is gaining new life. He personally buys one vinyl record every week. He subscribes to several printed magazines. But he also uses AI a lot. A lot, but consciously.
– We are only at the beginning of digital development. We are like a one-year-old who has barely learned to speak.
The future is not about rejecting technology, but about finding balance. Not becoming apathetic, but not overwhelmed either.
– The most important thing we have is our consciousness, Nicklas says. Understanding our emotions in a world that moves quickly.
Helio, an important campfire
In an increasingly digital world, physical places become more important, he continues. Places where people meet, test ideas, and see the world through other people’s perspectives.
– These kinds of environments will be crucial going forward. That is also why the collaboration with Helio feels so natural. There are entrepreneurs, creators, and innovators here — exactly the target group my newsletter is aimed at. I also hope to give lectures for the members in the future.
