Those of us who live in the wealthy part of the world shop far too much. Both the environment and people in other countries suffer as a result. At the same time, many people are starting to feel tired of the fast fashion trend. A clothes-swap day is a fun, social and a completely free activity that is truly good for the environment. The clothes that have become a bore for one person or that no longer fit become new and fun for someone else. We give our clothes a longer lifespan and contribute to a better environment, (The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, 2019).
Therefore, our members in Mind Retail want to, in collaboration with Helio, take this opportunity to arrange a clothes-swap day – in the middle of the Christmas mess and the year’s most consumption-filled month. Together we can do the environment and our pockets a favor. Perhaps you’ll find something for yourself, or someone else?
This is how it’s done:
- Bring 3-5 items of clothing to Helio on the 9th or 10th of December. They should be whole, clean and only clothes are accepted – no accessories or shoes. Drop off the clothes at the front desk or at Mind Retail right by the entrance at Majorsgatan between 09:00-14:00.
- For each item of clothing you leave, you get 1 ticket that can be used in exchange for a new item.
- Refill your energy at the members’ breakfast on December 11th, then head to Mind Retail’s clothes-swap day (08:30-14:00) with your tickets, and exchange these for new discoveries – all free!
- The clothes that are left over will be donated to a local second-hand store. Keep in mind that you won’t get the clothes you handed in back.
